Being able to manipulate the raw Arcana that flows through all things was once a trait thought reserved only for those born from it. These beings were few in number and revered as demi-gods almost equal to those of the great pantheon. This was life on the continent of Gillium until a young man found the secret that would make him the first Mage, one who can manipulate magic without being born of it. He passed this secret to all that he could as did his followers. A new age began and for 10,000 years the people of Gillium flourished living in an Era of High Magic.

In the modern-day Arcana is used to power lights, vehicles, simple cooking tools, and even the simplest of person can command it. The title Mage however is still considered sacred and is given only to those who have completed rigorous training and learned the secrets of arcana. Lest Acciaio is one such person, who now takes his final steps in becoming a full mage and his first steps to starting a journey that will define his destiny.
